One person is dead following a crash in Georgetown County. According to the Highway Patrol, it happened shortly before one Monday morning on US 17 A, about ten miles south of Georgetown near SC 41. Troopers say the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling north on the highway ran off the road, overcorrected, then ran off the opposite side of the road and struck a tree. We do not know the victim's identity at this time. Count on more information as it becomes available.
