Florence man charged with child abuse

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Florence man was arrested Tuesday after deputies said he had a fit of anger and kicked a child carrier where his 6-week-old baby lay, Florence County Sheriff’s Lt. Brett Camp said.

Eric Jones, 31, of 2742 Lorra Circle, Lot 7, is charged with child abuse or neglect, Florence County Detention Center bookings reports show.

The incident happened at a home on Laurel Lane when the suspect discovered the mother of the baby had left him with some friends while she went to a party.

Witnesses at the home told deputies the suspect became enraged and kicked the child’s seat twice, causing the infant to fall out, Camp said. The suspect picked the child up and left the home.

People at the house called the sheriff’s office and deputies later located and arrested the suspect, Camp said.

Bond information on Jones wasn’t available Thursday.
