It’s not just the beach's warm weather these days that brought Judy DeSouza all the way from Canada. She tells News 13, that it’s more because of the variety of stores, especially at the Tanger Factory Outlets on Highway 501.
“We came here as a whole group, all 39 of us for Christmas,” said DeSouza. “We’ve been taking advantage of all the shopping at the outlets and at the malls trying to get in on the sales.”
DeSouza definitely wasn't alone. Many of her fellow bargain hunters were all out for the same deals, deep discounts and marked-down merchandise, as retailers at the outlets rolled out their after Christmas sales.
"I'm saving some big savings on my pocket," said Kevin Williams who was visiting from Maryland. He felt that finding good deals on Friday after Christmas this year, was definitely better than on Friday after Thanksgiving Day.
“I don't feel as much pressure,” he stated. “This is relaxed and I can do whatever I want at a slow pace.”
DeSouza and Williams sure didn’t go home empty handed. Both had one thing in common; a bargain on, "Shoes! lots of shoes," said DeSouza with excitement.
"Shoes, Timberland, I mean everything that I like to wear," added Williams.
In Judy’s home country of Canada, the day after Christmas is known as Boxing Day, the biggest shopping day of the year for her family.
“It's like a tradition for my daughter and my husband to go out Boxing Day shopping,” explained DeSouza. “I never go out, but this is nice here. It’s not as crowded for me, so I like Boxing Day shopping here.”
