Agnes W. Bridgers
Agnes Wise Bridgers, 90, widow of John F. Bridgers, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2008 in McLeod Hospice House, Florence after an illness. She was born Mar. 22, 1918 in Marion County, a daughter of the late Cicero and Mattie Watson Wise. Mrs. Bridgers was active in the First Presbyterian Church of Florence and was a member of Saint Luke Luthern Church. She was also very active in her community.
Surviving Mrs. Bridgers are a brother, Rufus M. Wise and his wife Jean of Florence; a sister-in-law, Dorothy E. Wise Wright and her husband Malcolm of Florence; her nephews, Robert Bridgers and his wife Susan of Darlington and their children, John, Jamie and Bo Bridgers and his wife Anne of Ridgeland, Gerald Wise and his wife Evita of Marion and their children, Blakely and Benton, and several other nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bridgers was predeceased by five brothers, Clenneth Wise, A.G. Wise, J. Benton Wise, Davis Everette Wise and Clinton C. Wise, Sr.
Graveside services were at 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 14 at Florence Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Linda Anderson officiating. Memorials may be made to McLeod Hospice House, P.O. Box 100551, Florence, 29502 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Daniel “Shorty” Herring Jr.
Daniel “Shorty” Herring Jr., 65, husband of Kathy Chesser Herring, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008 in the Medical University of South Carolina after an illness.
He was born Sept. 14, 1943 in Dillon, a son of the late Daniel and Ruby Carter Herring and was a retired farmer, avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Ariel Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Herring, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Elaine Elliott and her husband Kenneth of Marion, Lisa Huggins and her husband Bruce of Marion and Heather Herring of Mullins; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Vera Bryant of Marion, Gwen Daniels of Summerville and Berline Hicks of Johnsonville; a brother, David LeGrand Herring and his wife Lilly of Seneca.
Graveside services were at 3 p.m., Monday, Dec. 15, at Devotion Gardens Cemetery.

Corey Thomas “CJ” Gore II
Corey Thomas “CJ” Gore II, infant son of Corey Thomas Gore and Lindsay Michelle Anderson Gore, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008 in Marion County Medical Center. Graveside services were at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, at Palmetto Memorial Gardens.
In addition to his mother and father, CJ was survived by grandparents, Charles and Sharon Anderson of Marion, Chad and Leigh McGee of Marion, and Thomas Gore of Columbia; and great-grandparents, Mitchell and Bonnie Anderson of Marion, Author and Mae Nobles of Marion, Ansel and Beth Edwards of Marion, Julian Gore of Marion, Bobby Treadway of Marion, and Mary McGee of Coward; an aunt, Amanda Gore of Marion; and uncles, Johnathan Anderson of Marion, and Josh McGee of Coward. CJ was predeceased by great-grandparents June Gore of Marion and Ronald McGee of Coward.
