»  Comments | Post a Comment

Florence County coroner M.G."Bubba" Matthews says autopsy results are still pending in the case of a missing boater whose body was found Friday afternoon in the Lynches River.

Robert Canteen Jr. went missing on November 19th, after his wife dropped him off for an early morning fishing trip at Odell Venters Landing near Johnsonville.

Search crews later found Canteen's overturned boat, along with a seat and a life jacket, about a mile south of the landing.

On Friday afternoon, search crews located his body.

Matthews says Canteen's body was sent to MUSC in Charleston for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Matthews said Monday, that pathologists had not yet completed toxicology tests on the body, and will not release a cause of death until those tests are complete.
