For the past 11 months Kathy Lewis' mission was to have the cemetery filled with wreaths on each and every headstone.
"Every grave, they all deserve a wreath. They all helped us enjoy our freedoms today," Lewis, Wreaths Across America Volunteer, said.
"This is a ceremony where it brings the realism to life," Lewis said.
Seven ceremonial wreaths were placed at the Florence National Cemetery in memory of seven fallen officers.
"They all made sacrifices, their families left behind for our freedom," Lewis said.
Lewis said her father left to serve his country and was fortunate to return safely.
"This (Florence National Cemetery) is where he chooses one day to be buried. So he knows he's always going to have a wreath on his grave," Lewis said.
Lewis said this year they did not raise enough money for 7,000 wreaths.
"We didn't make our goal, but we tripled what we did last year."
But, Lewis said she hopes to raise awareness year-round and generate enough money for a wreath on every fallen soldier’s headstone.
On January 24th scouts will come back to the Florence National Cemetery to collect the wreaths.
