PAWLEYS ISLAND - As a result of a three week undercover operation inside Club Isis, located at 9529 Ocean Highway, Pawleys Island, the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, 15th Judicial Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), SLED, South Carolina Department of Revenue, and South Carolina Highway Patrol conducted a raid on the business Saturday morning, December 6, 2008 at approximately 3:00 a.m.
Club Isis, owned by William Player and managed by Tony Ford both of Pawleys Island, has been an establishment that has hosted several criminal incidents just over the last year. From November 2007 to November 2008 there has been 51 incidents reported with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office. These incidents involved violent crimes, violation of drug laws, fights, and noise complaints.
Due to the numerous amounts of reported incidents, the three week undercover operation, conducted by the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies, began on the inside of Club Isis. During the operation, law enforcement officers witnessed illegal activity such as drug violations, firearms violations, alcohol violations, security violations, and fire code violations.
The raid early Saturday morning was based on the compiled information from previously reported incidents and the undercover operation in an attempt to stop the criminal activity and send a message that it will not be tolerated.
As a result of the raid, there were 10 arrests made which are as follows: 27-year-old Cedrick Dwayne Baldwin, Sumter, SC - Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol and Violation of Security Officer Registration, 30-year-old Robert Nelson, Sumter, SC - Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol, 24-year-old Montea Darryl Myers, Murrells Inlet, SC - Possession with the Intent to Distribute of Crack Cocaine, 27-year-old Christopher Huggins Lewis, Hemingway, SC - Possession of Cocaine, 35-year-old Shawn Lamont Simmons, Georgetown, SC – Simple Possession of Marijuana, 20-year-old Marquell Rashod Weaver, Hemingway, SC - Simple Possession of Marijuana, 37-year-old Brian Keith Dennison, Pawleys Island, SC – Violation of Security Officer Registration, 49-year-old David Michael Syndab, Pawleys Island, SC – Disorderly Conduct, 49-year-old Richard Lee Green, Pawleys Island, SC – Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear Family Court, and 39-year-old Maurice Allen Scott, Pawleys Island, SC – warrant service for 3 counts of Violation of Check Law. During the raid, sheriff’s deputies also located abandoned drugs that have not been tied to the owner(s).
