Case dropped against former Dillon police officer

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A case against a former Dillon police officer has been dropped because of a lack of cooperation by the victim who is now on the run from authorities, 4th Circuit Deputy Solicitor Kernard Redmond said.

Donnie “Bubba” Grimsley was a suspect in a 2005 excessive force case being handled by his office, Redmond said.

It was alleged that Grimsley used excessive force during a June 2005 traffic stop involving the victim. Prosectors said there is video of the stop from a patrol car dash camera, but some parts of incident happened out of the camera’s range, Redmond said.

The victim hasn’t shown up for court appearances since the incident and has an outstanding bench warrant, Redmond said. He also is wanted in New Jersey on unrelated charges.
