Deputies are trying to determine if they will arrest a Andrews man they say shot a Salters man Sunday, Williamsburg County Sheriff Kelvin Washington said.

John Lockliear, 33, of 3568 Seaboard Road died at a Georgetown hospital Sunday, Williamsburg County Corner Harrison McKnight said in a previous interview. His death was ruled a homicide.

The shooting happened at a home on Suttons Road in Andrews on Sunday morning. A person investigators identified as the shooter said Lockliear showed up at his door at about 2:15 a.m. and said “I come here to kill you,” according to a sheriff’s office incident report.

Lockliear got back into his vehicle, where he and the resident exchanged gunfire before Lockliear sped away from the scene. The resident later told investigators he may have shot Locklier, according to the incident report.
