A Florence man was arrested after police said he stomped on his wife’s face and refused to let her leave her apartment, Florence Police Maj. Carlos Raines said.
Detron Devante Bell, 28, of 525 Woodland Drive is charged with kidnapping and criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, Florence County Detention Center bookings reports show.
The incident happened Friday when the suspect got into an argument with his wife, pushed her down and stomped on her face, Raines said.
The victim said she tried to call for help, but the suspect broke her phone in half, Raines said. She tried to leave the residence, but the suspect stopped her.
Police arrived on the scene and arrested the suspect after a brief investigation, Raines said.
Bell was booked and released Friday from the jail in Effingham after posting bail, though the amount wasn’t available.
