DONALD BANKS HENSLEY
Graveside services for Donald Banks Hensley, 72, who died Nov. 30, will be held today, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. at Florence National Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home.
Mr. Hensley was born in Lancaster and was a veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are four sons: Ronald, Dino, Donnie Hensley, Lancaster, John D. Gainey, Jr., Hartsville; three daughters: Teresa, Tyra and Debbie, all of Lancaster; a sister, Shirley Garrett, and a niece, Donna McKinnon, both of Lancaster; special friend, Teresa Vann, Hartsville; several grand- and great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Donnie Hensley.

MURRAY LEE
GRIGGS Sr.
Funeral services for Murray Lee Griggs Sr., 93, who died Nov. 30, will be, today, Dec. 3, at 3 p.m. from the Antioch Baptist Church. The Rev. John Helms will officiate. Burial will be in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home.
Mr. Griggs was born in Darlington County, a son of the late Wylie and Minnie McGee Griggs. He retired from Hartsville Print and Dye and Cone Industries in Cheraw and was a farmer. He was the oldest member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Murray Lee Griggs Jr., Hartsville, and Jimmy (Connie) Griggs and their son, Andy, Hartsville; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

MARY JANE
HAUSMAN
Funeral services for Mary Jane Schwoyer Hausman, 84, were held Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Mike Rhyne officiated with entombment in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial services will also be held at 12 noon Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Douglasville, Pa. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Attn: Gift Mgmt Services, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 27244.
Mrs. Hausman died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008. Born in Krumsville, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Jean and Lulu Welder Schwoyer. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her husband, Lawrence J. "Red" Hausman of Hartsville; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Kim Hausman of Blairstown, N.J.; daughter, Melanie Jane Hausman of Hartsville; sisters, Elizabeth Aschen-brener of Greenville, Wis., Nancy Lou Schwoyer of Sacramento, Calif.; brother, Ray Schwoyer of Allentown, Pa.; grandchildren, Jessica Hausman and Jeremy Hausman.

DAVID AMERSON
Funeral services for David Amerson, 63, who died Nov. 28, were held Sunday, Nov. 30, at Kelleytown Baptist Church. The Rev. Rod Elliott and the Rev. Gary Anderson officiated. Burial was in the Lake Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery in Timmonsville directed by Norton Funeral Home.
Mr. Amerson was born in Hartsville, a son of the late Cecil and Mattie Munn Amerson. He was retired from Sonoco Products Co. after 39 1/2 years of service. He was a member of the Old Timers Club, Sonoco Fireman, Hartsville Masonic Lodge, Shriners and Kelleytown Baptist Church, where he was an usher.
Surviving are his wife, Carole Howell Amerson, Hartsville; a son, Cleve (Heather) Amerson, Darlington; a daughter: Fentrice (Keith) Thomp-son, Hartsville; brother, Cecil (Bud) Amerson, Hartsville, sister, Grace Singletary, Timmonsville; five grandchildren, Zach-ary Thompson, Hannah Grace Thompson, Luke Amerson, Kaylee Amer-son and Shane Amerson.
Memorials may be made to the Kelleytown Baptist Church, 2609 Kelleytown Road, Harts-ville, SC 29550.

LONNIE O'NEAL
Funeral services for Lonnie Sam O'Neal, 80, were held Monday, Dec.1, 2008, at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. Private family burial will be in New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. O'Neal, widower of Edith Tyner O’Neal, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam O'Neal. He was a member of New Providence Baptist Church.
Surviving are his daughter (spouse), Janice O’Neal (Norbert) Witte of Hartsville; grandchildren (spouse), Christopher (Chasity) Stamey, Dennis Stamey, Katie O'Neal, all of Hartsville; great-grandchildren, Ryan Stamey, Blade Stamey, Justice Stamey, all of Hartsville.

OPHELIA HICKS CLYBURN
Funeral services for Ophelia Hicks Clyburn, 74, who died Nov. 30, were held Tuesday from the Chapel Norton of Funeral Home. The Rev. Glis Cribb officiated. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Clyburn was born in Hartsville, a daughter of the late Arthur and Melinda Hall Hicks.
Surviving are daughters, Kathy Murray and Dee Dee (Danny) Byrd, Hartsville; sons, William Clyburn, Hartsville, Freddie (Donna) Clyburn, Bishopville. 13 grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.


RUBY L. NEHUS
Graveside services for Ruby Lee Allen Nehus, 75, were held Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at Darlington Memory Gardens. The Rev. Howard Allen officiated. Memorials may be made to the Lakeview Baptist Church, 202 Lakeview Blvd., Hartsville, SC 29550 or South Florence Baptist Church, 2720 S. Irby St., Florence, SC 29505.
Mrs. Nehus died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008. Born in Chesterfield County, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Carson and Olay Hunter Allen. She was a member of South Florence Baptist Church and previously was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, John Nehus of Florence and sister and brother-in-law, Melba and Billy Roscoe of Hartsville.

JOHNNY HOLDEN
Funeral services for Johnny McNeil Holden, 63, were held Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Scott Petry officiated, and burial was in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. Holden died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008. Born in Horry County,
he was a son of the late John Holden and the late Anna Louise Hardwick Holden. He was a
member of Wesley Chapel UMC.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Ann Holden; sons, Jody Holden of Hartsville, Charles Edward Hancock Jr. of Darlington, Jerry Polson of Myrtle Beach and Presley Lee Cantrell of Myrtle Beach; daughters and son-in-law, Tammy Marie and DeLeon Flowers of Harts-ville, Pandora Christine Brown of Harts-ville, Johnnie Michelle Parker of Myrtle Beach, Charlotte Cantrell of Myrtle Beach, Pamela Todd of Myrtle Beach, Sherry Epperson of Keller, Texas; Tammy Marie Hancock of Charlotte, N.C., Charlene Hancock Carter of Hartsville; sister, Peggy Taylor; brothers, Ronnie Holden, Sammy Holden, Robert Holden, Mitchell Holden, David Holden, Pete Holden; 24 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Banks Cantrell, Jr.

SUDIE COPELAND
LAMAR - Sudie Carter Copeland, 93, affectionately known as “Ma-Ma” or “Miss Sudie," of Lamar, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008. Funeral services were held at Fair Hope Church on Saturday, Nov. 29, with burial following in the church cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home of Lamar.
Born June 2, 1915, in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Herbert R. and Ellen Bell Carter. Sudie was a devoted housewife, an excellent seamstress and enjoyed traveling. She was a member of the Iris Garden Club, Golden Age Club and the Sue Mims Circle. Also, she was a C.N.A. that performed some private duty nursing. Mrs. Copeland was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Fair Hope Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher.
Surviving are two daughters, Janice C. (Jim) Pigot of Timmonsville, Roxanne (D. Aubrey) Richardson of Florence; two sons Frank D. “Bud” (Becky) Copeland Jr. and Grier Carter Copeland, all of Lamar, a sister-in-law, Marion Carter, a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank D. Copeland and siblings: Durwood A. Carter, Rosa Carter, LaRae Corbett, Ruby Kempson and William Perry Carter.

MERLIN BYRD SR.
Funeral services for Merlin Mark Byrd Sr., 80, were held Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ladell Humphries officiated with burial in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Byrd Sr. died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of the late Edward and Beulah Dukes Byrd. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was retired from Sonoco Products Co. and was a member of the Old Timers Club. He enjoyed restoring old cars and was known for his Christmas lights. He was a well loved, very creative person.
Surviving are his wife, Romona Jordan Byrd of Hartsville; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Sue Byrd of Hartsville; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and James Steen of Raleigh; sisters, Jewel Sherron of Greenville, Elizabeth Watson of Florence; brothers and sisters-in-law, Orren and Jenny Byrd of Hartsville, Gary L. and Mary Byrd of Hartsville; stepdaughters, ScDell and Randy Knotts of Hartsville, Barbara and Kenny Wilkes of Hartsville, Robin and Cliff Lane of Darlington; grandchildren, Marcia (Glenn) Gainey, Robin Byrd, Stephen (Trasie) Byrd, Tommy Steen, Jamie Steen, Shannon Rowe, Donna (Todd) Cassidy, Kelly (Gary) Butler, Lindsey Wilkes, Kristen Wilkes, Jordan Lane, Ashley Lane; nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Gainey Byrd.

AGNES GIBSON
DARLINGTON - Agnes O’Neal Gibson, 72, widow of Albert E. Gibson, passed away at a local Hospice Home, Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008. Funeral services were held in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 30, with burial following in Black Creek Cemetery.
Born Aug. 10, 1936, in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Press and Jessie O’Neal. Mrs. Gibson worked in the cotton mills for more than 30 years and then worked at Shoney’s as a hostess for another 10 years. She was a loving mother and best friend to her children. Agnes was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her daughter, Sharon McDonald of Darlington, a son, Scott Gibson of Hartsville, grandchildren; Kenneth “Kenny” William McDonald III and Matthew Brian McDonald, also, her special friend of over 60 years, Barbara “Bobbie Jean” Suggs.
She was preceded in death by her siblings; Nancy O. Brown, Carol O’Neal, Ray O’Neal, Azalee O. Davis, Heyward O’Neal, and Pressley O’Neal.
