David Carroll Flowers
David Carroll Flowers, 91, of Aynor, died Nov. 26, 2008 in the Marion Medical Center.
Mr. Flowers was born in Horry County a son of the late Henry and Bessie Cook Flowers. He was a member of Galivants Ferry Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II. Mr. Flowers was predeceased by one daughter, Ann Flowers Demers, one brother and five sisters.
Surviving Mr. Flowers are his wife, Earlene Lewis Flowers; two daughters, Melia Flowers Berry of Marion, Linda Flowers of Cloumbia; two step-sons; two step-daughters; one brother, Maxie Flowers of Texas; one sister, Hallie Flowers Titmus of Myrtle Beach; four grandchildren, Davis DEmers of Charleston, Joshua Tucker, Jacob Tucker, Haley Tucker, all of Marion; four great- grandchildren, Candice Flowers, Seth Flowers, Luke Flowers and Caitlyn Flowers.
Funeral Services were at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, 2008 in the Galivants Ferry Baptist Church, with the Rev. Denley Caughman officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Galivants Ferry Baptist Church, C/O Denise Skipper, 183 Hwy 216, Galivants Ferry, 29544.

Neal Franklin ‘Frank’ Collins
Neal Franklin “Frank” Collins, 69, husband of Beth Atkinson Collins, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008 in Rex Healthcare.
Born on June 25, 1939 in Marion to the late Neal Clardy Collins and Reba Shaw Collins, Mr. Collins served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from International Paper Co. and from Tritest, Inc.
Surviving Mr. Collins, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Michael Collins of Florence and Mitchell Collins and his wife Theresa of Winter Park, Fla.; two grandchildren, Dakota and Madison Collins; two brothers, Charles Collins of Marion and Ronald Collins of Bennettsville; three sisters, Carolyn C. Jackson of Dillon, Annette C. Carter of Mullins and Donna C. Massey of Conway; and nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Maurice “Reece” Collins; a brother, Ray Collins; a sister, Jean C. Carter; and a niece, Renee McRae Foster.
Memorial services were at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at L .Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel in Knightdale, N.C., and graveside services were at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30 at Tranquil United Methodist Church Cemetery in Mullins. John Cox Jr.
John Cox Jr., 80, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008 in Carolina’s Hospital after an illness. A graveside service was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at Old Zion Cemetery.
Mr. Cox was born in Marion County, a son of the late John Cox and Vada Lane Cox. He was predeceased by his wife, Maxine Cox and a son, Billy Cox Jr. Mr. Cox was a retired electrician.
His survived by a son, Michael Harvey Cox of Florence; brothers, Norman Cox of Mullins and Cecil Cox of Florence; and a sister, Marian Sawyer of Marion.

Audrey Merle Phelps
Audrey Merle Phelps, 85, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 in McLeod Hospice House after an extended illness. Services were at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at Richardson Funeral Home. Burial followed in Palmetto Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Phelps was born in Calloway, Ky., a daughter of the late Matt and Vercie Elliott Wells. She was predeceased by her husband, Horace Nathan Phelps; brothers, Winston, Wenzel and Gordon Wells; and a sister, Stella Elkins. Mrs. Phelps was a member of Marion Baptist Church, WMU, and taught Sunday school.
Surviving are two sons, David W. Phelps of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Timothy Phelps of Marion; a daughter, Susan K. Skipper and her husband Malcolm M. Skipper Jr. of Charlotte; a sister, Della Barber of Jacksonville, Fla.; two grandchildren, Sarah Peters and her husband, Joe Peters of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Brian Skipper of Charlotte; and great-grandchildren, Audrey Peters, Charley Peters and Andy Peters.
Memorials may be made to Marion Baptist Church Building Fund, 106 S. Main Street, Marion, 29571.

Joyce T. Evans
Joyce Tefft Evans, 86, wife of Pater C. Evans, Jr. died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008 in her home after an illness. Mrs. Evans, daughter of the late C. Forrest and Grace Tefft, was born July 1, 1922 in Watson Town, Pa. and grew up in Upper Arlington, Ohio.
She was a retired teacher and a 1944 graduate of Ohio State University and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Mrs. Evans was a member of First United Methodist Church of Marion.
Surviving Mrs. Evans, in addition to her husband of 62 years, are three sons, Pete Evans III and his wife Mei-Fang of Beaufort, N.C., Phil Evans and his wife Cindy of Greenville, N.C., and Dan Evans and his wife Denise of Whiteville, N.C.; grandchildren, Melissa Evans and her fiance’ Joshua Copeland of Greenville, Nathaniel Evans of Greenville, Crystal Davis of Whiteville, N.C., and Shawn Stevens of Whiteville, N.C.; a brother, Phil Tefft and his wife Jean of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Helene Sanderson and her husband Bob of Washington Courthouse, Ohio; and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Evans was predeceased by two brothers, Brandt Tefft and Carvel Tefft.
Services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in the First United Methodist Church of Marion, with the Rev. Joe Long officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to University Health Systems, P.O. Box 30945, Greenville, N.C., 27833.

Pamela Pizzuti McMillan
Pamela Pizzuti McMillan, the daughter of Nicola D. Pizzuti and the late Ruth Miller Pizzuti, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 in her home of Lexington.
A graduate of the University of South Carolina, she worked for the S.C. Department of Education for more than 30 years. She retired in 2003, as an accomplished auditor. She was a breast cancer survivor and participated in a network of survivors that provided comfort and support to other cancer victims.
Always living her commitment to her faith, she was a leader and an active member of her community and church. As a member Corpus Christi Catholic Church, she served in the Legion of Mary, the Catholic Women’s Group, taught Religious Education, served as Eucharistic minister, and was on the Welcoming Committee. She served as treasurer of the Order Sons of Italy Local Lodge 2808-Columbia.
She is survived by her husband, Carl B. McMillan Jr.; daughter, Rachel McMillan Carter and her husband Gavin; son, Carl B. McMillan III and wife Christine; grandson, Jonah Domenic Carter; her father; sisters and brothers, Trisha Pizzuti-Bockus, Tammy (James) Barkley, Nick D. Pizzuti (Karen) Angie (Buddy) Black, Anthony (Susan) Pizzuti, Jinny (Joel) Wilson, Gregory (Leslie) Pizzuti, Alicia (Drew) Freeman, Mary (Robert) Brewer and Theresa Pizzuti.
Rosary recitation was on Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at 6 p.m, in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Lexington. The funeral Mass of the Resurrection was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, also at the church. Burial followed in McMillan Cemetery in Mullins. Memorials or donations may be made to the Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2350 Augusta Hwy, Lexington, 29072.
