A Scranton man was arrested early Monday morning in connection with three vehicle break-ins in Coward, according to Florence County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Jefferson Claude Mat Floyd, 28, of 2777 N. Matthews Road, is charged with three counts of damaging or tampering with a vehicle, three counts of first-offense possession of a controlled substance in Schedule I and a count of first-offense entry on another’s land for various purposes without permission, Florence County Detention Center booking reports show.
The vehicle break-ins happened after 12:01 a.m. Monday at three separate residences off Salem Road, Florence County Sheriff’s Lt. Brett Camp said. A deputy caught the suspect after the third vehicle was burglarized.
All of the small items stolen from the vehicles were recovered, as was a bottle of different Schedule I drug capsules for which the suspect didn’t have a prescription, Camp said.
Floyd remains in custody at the jail in Effingham awaiting a bond hearing.
