A Darlington man was arrested Friday after deputies said he stabbed his neighbor, Darlington County Sheriff’s Lt. Robin Bryant said.

Curtis Ray Nealey, 34, of 1440 Pebble Drive is charged with assault and battery with intent to kill.

The incident happened Aug. 8 shortly before midnight when the victim walked over to the suspect’s house to talked about a problem the suspect had with the victim’s son, Bryant said.

Deputies said the victim had knocked on the door and was standing on Nealey’s doorstep when the suspect open the door and stabbed him, Bryant said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he underwent surgery and is expected to survive his injuries, Bryant said.

Nealy was arrested after a brief investigation and released from jail Saturday after posting a $10,000 surety bond.
