The Marion Police Department is investigating what it thinks might be a drug deal gone bad.
According to Lt. Farmer Blue, authorities responded to a call of shots fired at 1000-C Mason Court inside Northside apartments, early Saturday morning.
“It’s my opinion right now that it’s a drug deal gone bad,” he said. “Or some sort of rival drug dealers going at each other.”
Blue said two men were inside the apartment when there was a knock at the door.
He said one of the men opened the door, was knocked down, and a group of people forced its way inside the apartment and began firing.
One man was shot several times, he said, and was sent to an area hospital for treatment.
Blue said drugs were confiscated from the apartment, along with a weapon.
The incident is being investigated and more details will be released as they become available.
