The plans for expansion at the Myrtle Beach international airport are now ready for your input.
A company hired by Horry County Council to research expansion alternatives is ready to present its findings.
MB Kahn construction company was hired to assist the county in the planning process for an east side terminal expansion project.
Rick Ott said his company has been working for the past five months to come up with what they think are the best alternatives for improving the myrtle beach international airport.
After months of research, Ott said they have narrowed it down to three of what they think are the best alternatives for the airport.
The first option is to completely renovate the existing terminal and add an expansion.
Ott said that option will likely be the most disruptive to travelers.
"The terminal is already too small to accommodate the people that are using it and if we have to shut off major sections it will have a pretty dramatic impact on operations." said Ott.
The second option is to build a new terminal on the east side and the old terminal would be used for another purpose.
The third option is to build a new terminal next to the existing terminal and re-use the old terminal for another purpose.
Ott said those two options would not have as much of an impact on people flying in and out of Myrtle Beach.
Tuesday, Ott’s planning to present those alternatives to Myrtle Beach council and Horry county council.
Then he will be going out into the community.
The public will have the chance to hear about the terminal enhancement project alternatives during a series of public information meetings starting next week.
Ott said, "This is for me to get their feed back, their input and to build the type of airport terminal that the community wants, not what I particularly want."
The three options will be presented to Horry County Council and Myrtle Beach city council members.
Then, Ott said once they hear from the public, then they will know just how much money the expansion are going to cost.
