A car versus utility pole accident that occurred early Sunday left 750 Pee Dee Electric Cooperative customers without service for 10 hours.

A Nissan Pathfinder was traveling on Pine Needles Road in Florence County when, according to Brian Kelley, vice president of marketing for Pee Dee Electric, it struck one of the company’s double circuit poles, knocking out two electric circuits.

Kelley said a crew of seven employees responded and had service back by 11 a.m.

As of press time Sunday, no information on the driver of the vehicle or his condition was available, according to Lance Cpl. Trevor Clinton with the S.C. Highway Patrol.
