Local leaders to improve Timmonsville Boys & Girls Club

Timmonsville-area business and government officials are planning to kick off a series of improvements to the Timmonsville Boys & Girls Club.

Town, county and industry leaders will make a presentation at 10 a.m. Friday at the Boys & Girls Club, 620 N. Brockington St. Light refreshments will be served after the announcement.

Honda of South Carolina Manufacturing Inc. is adding computers and replacing the building’s cooling system, while county council members are providing money to replace a leaky roof and the community will help repaint the facility, Kirby said.

About 200 children and youths visit the club in a day, said Florence County Councilman Mitchell Kirby, who represents Timmonsville.
