After tabling the decision twice, Coward council approved the Scenic River Eligibility Study for South Lynches River on Nov. 5 during their regular meeting.
In the September council meeting, Johnsonville Council member Brad Richardson asked council to sign a letter in favor of the southern portion of Lynches River being designated as a scenic river by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
Following Richardson’s remarks, council decided to table the the decision until the next council meeting.
In the October council meeting, Coward council decided again to table the decision.
In other business, council approved the first reading of the Budget for 2008.
According to a public notice, the projected expenditures for 2008 is $221,574.
Pate asked council members if there is a need to purchase an ice maker for the Coward Community Center.
He explained several events are going to take place in the Community Center in the coming weeks.
Town clerk, Vivian Pate later said some of the events are birthday parties and family dinners.
“We definitely need one,” said council member Mark Keefe during the meeting.
Vivian Pate later said Mayor Pate would look for an ice maker.
The next Coward council meeting will be on Dec. 3 in Coward Town Hall at 3720 U.S. Highway 52 in Coward at 7:30 p.m.
