Jane Player was recently selected to participate in the Advanced Pharmacy Institute’s symposium in Baltimore, Md. This was a symposium put on by the American Pharmacy Association Foundation for pharmacists who represented exemplary work in the area of diabetes management. Player was among a select group of 50 pharmacists selected throughout the United States who do work in disease state management in the area of diabetes. She was one of two pharmacists who were recognized for their work in an independent setting outside of an established program sponsored by a teaching university, drug store chain or teaching hospital or clinic. She was one of the four pharmacists who were selected in the Southeast region of the United States. This was a two-day symposium which included additional study in the area of diabetes with special interest in the latest information in drug theraphy, nutrition and standards of care for the diabetes patient. Player is currently a pharmacist at Price Wise Pharmacy in Lake City and is a Certified Diabetes Educator at Pee Dee Diabetic Consultants located at the pharmacy.
