Nearly 120 people gathered in the National Bean Market Museum of South Carolina for Lake City Community Hospital’s Community meeting recently.
The meeting was to provide the community an update on current and future services of the hospital.
Family physician, Dr. Albert Mims welcomed attendees and gave a background and history of the hospital.
“Creating partnership makes it more affordable to our patients, said Consultant Buddy Watkins. “If you want to support your hospital, get your care here in Lake City.”

“When I got there, there was no money in the bank,” he said.
“I like a challenge,” Megna said in response to a question posed by an attendee concerning the reason for his involvement with the hospital if it was in debt.
“We were to balance the budget and reduce the debt,” Megna said.
Chief of Staff, Dr. Wade Lamb discussed current and future hospital services.
Lamb said cardiology coverage increased to five days of week, citing that it is remarkable for the size of the hospital.
Other new services include pain management center, diabetic center, chronic disease management center, urologygastroenterology and internal medicine, according to a hospital information sheet.
The information sheet list orthopedics, a sleep center, respiratory care, pediatrics and the addition of four primary providers and a general surgeon as future services with the next four months.
“I think the future is extremely bright,” Lamb said. “We are trying to attract new physicians and providers to make Lake City their home to practice.”
Businesswoman, Darla Moore told to attendees to keep in mind the excellent quality of health care they have here, in spite of the area being rural.
The hospital’s dietary staff provided refreshments for the meeting.
