Florence School District Three Board of Trustees met on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. in the district office boardroom on Blanding Street.
Communications coordinator, Brian Huckabee said Senior Director of Instruction, Donna Goodwin gave an update on the district’s new standards-based elementary report cards that will be put in use beginning with the first nine weeks reporting period.
Huckabee said board members received their evaluation instruments to evaluate Superintendent Beth Wright.
He said board members will return forms on Nov. 8 and the district’s attorneys will compile the results and form an evaluation report.
Lake City Elementary School Principal, Barbara Woodbury. Ronald E. McNair Middle School Principal, David Laws Jr, Main Street Elementary School Principal, Melesia Walden and Lake City High School Principal, Kasey Feagin gave a summary of the ERT (External Review Team) Focused School Renewal Plan Goals presentations they did in Columbia recently.
Huckabee said principals explained their goals and how they plan to work to achieve them.
He said the board approved for Lake City High School foreign language students to take a trip to trip to France and Spain during spring break.
Huckabee said the students are responsible for the cost of the trip and will hold fundraisers to help offset the cost.
The next board of trustees meeting will be Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. at Scranton Elementary School.
