Olanta council members met on Nov. 1 for a special meeting in Town Hall.
In new business, council member Dickie Kirby questioned when plans would be made for the Cenntinnal of the town.
Sims later said they are planning to have a celebration near June 2008 marking when the town was incorporated.
During the meeting, Sims requested information on buildings and objects for the celebration.
Sims also asked for names of persons to serve on the planning committee for the celebration.
In old business, Kirby said the parking lines have not been painted in front of the Olanta Baptist Church and asked when it was going to be done.
“I make a motion that the lines be painted by Nov. 15,” said council member Dr. Sondra Holt.
“We a made motion a year and a half ago to get the lines painted but it never was done,” Mayor Betty Sims said later in a phone interview.
“Is there anything else like this hanging we need to get done?” Sims asked during the meeting.
Police Chief Mark Strickland said someone asked the price of the 1995 Crown Victoria car which sits behind Town Hall.
Strickland said the car’s transmission is good but the tires are bad.
Sims later said an advertisement will be placed in the newspaper to bid out the Bronco and the 1995 Crown Victoria.
She said the 1995 Crown Victoria is an old police car and the Bronco was a car used by the town.

According to the ordinance, the town will furnish water and sewer services to residential, commercial and industrial users within town limits through main lines owned by the town.
Kirby made a motion to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters and the motion was carried.
Sims said no decisions were made in executive session.
The next council meeting will be on Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in Olanta Municipal Services Building.
