Olanta voters decide not to change the faces on Olanta Town Council and re-elect incumbents, Sondra Holt and Willie Gallegos.
The two will each serve another term after receiving 93 and 71 votes, respectively during the Nov. 6 election.
Holt, a lifelong resident of the town, said she ran for re-election because she believes the town can progress and she wants to be a part of that.
"I'm so grateful to the people of Olanta and hope I can live up to their expectations," Holt said. Gallegos, a resident of Olanta since 1992, said she is ran for re-election because there are many projects under way that she wants to see completed.
“I'd like to thank my family and friends for voting for me,” she said.
The only other candidate, Rosa McCall, received 38 votes.
Absentee ballots will be added to these totals and the election will have to be certified before the results are official, according to Precinct Manager, Debby Floyd. She also said that 113 voters participated in the day's election with 16 write-in votes.
“I wish they all three could have won but, of course they didn't." Mayor Betty Sims said. "The two that won were already on council and we have a lot of projects that we're working on, but Ms McCall will work with us as she has in the past and everything will work out fine."
