James W. “Jay” Baker of St. Stephens, 68, died Nov. 2, 2007 in the Veteran’s Hospital in Charleston after an illness.
A graveside service was at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5 in the Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Born in Clarendon County, Mr. Baker wasa son of the late Hyatt Haselden Baker and the late Ellen Vernice Baker. He retired as a furniture salesman form Baker Furniture of Kingstree, was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church, and was a soldier in the United States Army where he served in the Korean War. Mr. Baker was also an avid fisherman and a very dedicated family man.
Surviving are two daughters, Tina Baker (Joey) Kuhlmannof Summerville and Toni Baker (Lannie) Morris of Lugoff; a son, James W. “Jamie” Baker III of Daniel Island; a sister, Virginia “Gin” Baker (William) Grimsley of Goose Creek; three grandsons; two granddaughters; and two nephews.
