GOVERNOR
— Republicans: attorney Bill Graham, of Salisbury; former Supreme Court Justice Bob Orr; and state Sen. Fred Smith, of Clayton. Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory is considering a GOP bid.
— Democrats: State Treasurer Richard Moore; Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue; retired Air Force Col. Dennis Nielsen, of Nash County.
— Libertarians: Duke University professor Mike Munger.
LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR
— Republicans: state Sen. Robert Pittenger, of Charlotte; former congressional candidate Greg Dority, of Washington, N.C.
— Democrats: Winston-Salem city councilman Dan Besse; state Sen. Walter Dalton, of Rutherfordton; attorney and ex-Easley aide Hampton Dellinger, of Durham; Canton Mayor Pat Smathers.
ATTORNEY GENERAL
— Republicans: attorney Bob Crumley, of Asheboro.
— Democrats: Attorney General Roy Cooper (incumbent).
STATE TREASURER
— Republicans: state Rep. Bill Daughtridge, of Rocky Mount; state Rep. Dale Folwell, of Winston-Salem.
— Democrats: state Sen. Janet Cowell, of Raleigh; attorney Michael Weisel, of Raleigh; Buncombe County commissioner David Young.
STATE AUDITOR
— Republicans: State Auditor Les Merritt (incumbent).
— Democrats: Beth Wood, the previous director of training in the auditor's office.
INSURANCE COMMISSIONER
— Democrats: Insurance Commissioner Jim Long (incumbent).
LABOR COMMISSIONER:
— Republicans: Labor Commissioner Cherie Berry (incumbent).
SECRETARY OF STATE
— Republicans: attorney Jack Sawyer, of Burlington.
— Democrats: Secretary of State Elaine Marshall (incumbent).
SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION
— Republicans: Joe Johnson, of Tryon, public affairs director for the Henderson County sheriff's office.
— Democrats: Superintendent June Atkinson (incumbent); Eddie Davis, president of the N.C. Association of Educators.
AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER
— Republicans: Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler (incumbent).
APPELLATE COURTS
— Supreme Court Associate Justice Robert Edmunds will seek re-election for another eight-year term. Six seats on the state Court of Appeals also are up for election.
