JOHNSONVILLE — David C. Poole Co. Inc. announced that Jeffrey L. Gardner and John W. Evans have been hired to run the company’s new manufacturing facility in Johnsonville.
As site manager, Gardner will have responsibility for enhancing productivity and quality of specialty fiber productions and will also direct new process and product development. In addition, he will be taking over customer technical service from Lorey Marsh.
Production manager Evans has been with the company for the past eight months and is responsible for coarse denier fiber production.
A 1989 graduate of Clemson University, Gardner began his manufacturing career with Springs Industries in Fort Mill. In 1997, he was hired by Wellman, Inc. in Johnsonville, where he was steadily promoted for the last 10 years to senior process development engineer. Most recently, he was with International Paper.
Evans filled the first management position in Johnsonville. Evans brings 40 years of fiber extrusion, finish preparations and polymer recycling experience from Wellman Inc.
“We are grateful for the addition of Jeff Gardner and John Evans to our team and Lorey Marsh’s willingness to leave retirement to ably assist our company with transition of Wellstrand from Wellman Inc.,” company president David Poole said in a press release. “All three bring a wealth of polyester and nylon manufacturing and development experience to the organization.“
David C. Poole Co. Inc. purchased the core equipment for its new facility from Wellman Inc. It is being enhanced with updates to the machinery capability to add coarse denier fiber manufacturing to the company’s resources. This fiber will be produced from post consumer recycled bottles, primarily PET-based polymer.
David C. Poole Co. Inc. is the only organization in the U.S. producing 45 to 500 denier fiber using 100 percent post consumer recycled products, according to the press release.
