Johnsonville youth spent some of their Valentine's Day spreading joy and love throughout the community in an effort they named “Paint the Town Red”.

The senior group of the First Baptist Church in Johnsonville met in the beautiful new Family Life Center for their March meeting.
Natalie and Randy were married September 2008 with his family and friends to witness the ceremony. They have been to visit her home twice. She said he and her family get along well together, because they cannot understand the language of each other, so they don’t argue! One visit was when a cousin was getting married and Randy had the opportunity to witness some of their customs there.
Darren Timmons of Johnsonville presented a workshop on "couponing" recently at the Crossover Church located on Seaboard Avenue to an enthusiastic group including a number of men. These courses are being offered to audiences elsewhere for a fee, but this workshop was free to the public as a program of the church.
The second annual Tri-State All-Star Series races took place at Wheel Crazy Kartway in Johsonville Feb. 18-19 with thousands of people in attendance. With the attendees, support crews and racers, there was also a large amount of tourist dollars that were brought into the area.
The South Carolina Lions Club Health Screening Unit set up shop in the school’s parking lot Thursday and Friday. Volunteers from the Johnsonville Lions Club helped the unit’s staff test children’s vision and hearing in the specially outfitted mobile unit.
The Friends of the Johnsonville Public Library group held its first annual meeting at the recently opened library complex Aug. 12.
In its infancy, the group would give advice and suggestions to those who wanted it and could benefit from the camaraderie.
Brittany Taylor Gamble, daughter of Brian and Cammie Gamble of Hemingway, recently won “Teen Miss Williamsburg County.”
On March 26, 2009 New Prospect Christian School was one of the first of the local schools to hold this year’s prom.
After a well-attended community sunrise service Easter morning, a group of men fed breakfast to the attendees at Hemingway Campground.

The high school class of 2010 had their prom Friday April 10.Rebecca Perales and Brock Cooper were selected as King and Queen of the prom.
The Hemingway High School prom was Friday April 3, with a Hollywood theme, entitled “You Complete Me.”
The eighth grade class at Hemingway High School had their prom Saturday April 4.

As I write this, I’ve been at home sick much of the week, and wishing I could be at work (this is sheer misery!), but grateful that Tina Pope, in our office, and Kim Ginfrida, news editor at the Morning News, have stepped up to make sure you get your current issue. I’ve always hated to see folks with emphysema fighting to breathe, now I know better what it feels like, as this bug has gripped my lungs.
