Simmons-Howarth
Beverly Marie Simmons and Jonathan Randall Howarth, both of Morrisville, N. C., exchanged marriage vows November 5, 2011 in a 4 p.m. ceremony at First Presbyterian Church in Wilson, N. C.
The Rev. Dr. Thomas Jeans Watkins officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wayne Simmons of Wilson. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Robert Barbour, Jr. of Hamlet and the late Mr. and Mrs. Keeley Elmer Simmons of Greensboro. She graduated from Fike High School and the University of N. C. at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Master of Social Work, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work at Smith College in Northampton, Mass. She is a licensed Clinical Social Worker in practice in Hillsborough and Chapel Hill.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Francis Howarth of Florence, S. C. He is the grandson of Clyde Richard Moore of Palm Harbor, Florida and the late Edna Caho Moore, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Grant Wilson Holliday of Streator, Illinois. He graduated from South Florence High School in Florence, S. C., and Furman University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, and Virginia Tech with a Master's degree in Computer Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science. He is a lead user experience designer for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of N. C. in Durham.
The bride was escorted by her father.
Matron of honor was the bride's sister Laura Simmons Hulsey of Raleigh.
Bridesmaids were Mary Putney Faile of Charlotte, Jeanette Grey Parker of Chapel Hill and Christina Katherine Sarff of Durham.
Flower girls were the bride's nieces, Emily Stewart Hulsey and Mary Helen Hulsey, both of Raleigh.
Best man was the groom's father.
The groom's attendants were Elizabeth Anne Howarth of Babylon, N.Y., sister of the groom, Edguardo Luis Vega-Candelario of Laurel, Md., and Rishi Anil Pande of Miami, Fla.
Wedding music was provided by soloist Eric Stanford Hulsey of Raleigh, brother-in-law of the bride, organist Joan Brown Gibbs and trumpeter James Brookshire Bradshaw.
Program attendant was Meredith Small Dolan of Morrisville.
Directors were Agnes Hood Cherry and Susan Estes Jones.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Leaning Tree in Bailey and was hosted by the bride's parents.
The rehearsal dinner on the eve of the wedding was also held at The Leaning Tree in Bailey, N.C. and was hosted by the groom's parents. A cocktail party given by the bridal couple followed the rehearsal dinner at The Leaning Tree. A bridesmaids' luncheon was held earlier that day and was given by Mrs. Robert Putney and Mrs. Robert Gregory at Putney Pond.
The couple took a wedding trip to Jamaica and are making their home in Morrisville.
