Courtney-Piland

Jody Ann Courtney of Springfield, Virginia and Mark David Piland of Quinby, South Carolina were married on September 17, 2011 at four o'clock in the afternoon at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Folly Beach, South Carolina.

Deacon  Shane  Graham  performed  the  double-ring ceremony. The bride was escorted by Mr. James Martin. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Martin of Virginia.

The  bride  is  a  graduate  of  the University of South Carolina. She is employed by Riggs Partners of Columbia, South Carolina.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Shirley O. Piland of Quinby, South Carolina and the late Mr. Charles G. Piland, Sr. of Quinby, South Carolina. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. David A. Overton, Sr. of Florence, South  Carolina,  the  late  Mr.  J.  Lester  Piland,  Sr. of Pelham,  Georgia,  and  the  late  Mrs. Janie F. Lawley of Pelham, Georgia.

The  groom  is  a graduate of the University of South Carolina. He is employed by the South Carolina Office of Lt. Governor.

Matron of Honor was Mrs. Michelle Magnini, sister of the bride. Maid of Honor was Miss Kasey Bates. Bridesmaids  were  Mrs.  Emily Lee, sister of the groom, Miss Diana Benavides, Miss Jacket Brackett, Miss Amanda Hamilton, Miss Lindsay Sheen, and Miss Katie Thomas.

Best Man was Mr. Charles Piland, Jr., brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Mr. Justin Courtney, brother of the bride, Mr. Ryan Connor, Mr. Ben Ingram, Dr. Aalok Patel, Mr. Greg Schuetz, Mr. Brian Smith, and Dr. Justin Taylor.

Flower  Girls  were Miss Demetria Magnini and Miss Olivia Magnini, nieces of the bride. Ring Bearers were Master Zachary Lee and Master Parker Lee, nephews of the groom.

A program of music was performed by Mrs. Christine Johnson, harpist.

A reception followed the ceremony at Tides in Folly Beach.  After a wedding trip to the Dominican Republic, the  couple will make their home in Columbia, South Carolina.
