Lake City Church News for Sept. 8

Here's a look at the upcoming church-related events in the Lake City area:

 

Revivals

  • Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, at 112 Deep River St. in Lake City, will have its annual revival with various speakers at 7:30 p.m. through Thursday with the Rev. Terry J. Barrett of Resurrection Life Ministries in Columbia. For more information, call (843) 394-8458.
  • Greater Deep River Church will have revival at 7:30 p.m. today through Friday with speaker Apostle Mary DeWhit of Redemption Outreach Ministry in Conway. For more information, call Pastor and evangelist Deloris Cattenhead at (843) 373-5899.
  • God’s Key Ministry, at 1599 Olanta Highway in Scranton, will have revival at 7 p.m. Sept. 16 and 17 with speaker the Elder Dwyne Brayboy from the Macedonia Holiness Church.
  • Gilead Free Will Baptist Church will hold revival services at 7 p.m. Monday through Sept. 17 with guest evangelist the Rev. Tim Larrimore of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church of Lancaster.   • Hebron Independent Church’s annual fall revival will begin with a kickoff breakfast at 8 a.m. Sept. 18. All residents of the community are invited to the special program; the speaker will be Treg Hallman of Mount Pleasant. Revival services will begin at 11 a.m. Sept. 19 and will also take place at 7 p.m. through Sept. 22 with speaker the Rev. Donald Duncan, pastor of Maranatha Pentecostal Holiness Church. The church is located at 1424 Hebron Road in Cades, two miles south of Hebron Crossroads.

 

Drama performance

Gilead Free Will Baptist Church, at 802 Cockfield Road, Scranton, will have a drama performance by TMT at 6 p.m. Saturday. TMT is an outreach ministry of the youth of White Savannah Original FWB Church in Conway. Fun Day

New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, on U.S. 378 east of Lake City, will have Fun Day beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday. The event will feature games, food and fun.

 

Bake sale, yard sale

A bake sale and indoor yard sale (multi-family) will be held from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday at Matthews Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church, at 1249 N. Matthews Road in Lake City. Funds raised will help support a senior citizens trip to the Amish country in Pennsylvania.

 

Gospel singing

Terrell’s Church of God of Prophecy will have a gospel singing featuring Carla and Redemption of Maxton, N.C., at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

 

Majesty Ensemble

Gilead FWB Church, at 802 Cockfield Road, Scranton, will have a special night of singing and preaching with the Majesty Ensemble of Southeastern Free Will Baptist College at 6 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call the Rev. Larry McAlister at (843) 394-8887.

 

New Life Drama Team

New Covenant Pentecostal Holiness Church, at corner of American Avenue and Horse Branch Road in Turbeville, will have the New Life Drama Team from Tennessee at 6 p.m. Sunday.

 

Trustee service

Netties Temple Holiness Church, at 343 Peachtree St. in Lake City, will have a trustee service with speaker Elder Kralick Cooper at 10 a.m. Sunday. For more information, call the church at (843) 394-1091.

 

Family and Friends Day

God’s Key Ministry, at 1599 Olanta Highway in Scranton, will have Family and Friends Day with speaker Pastor Wessie Gamble-Brown at 10 a.m. Sept. 19. For more information, call (843) 210-7080.

 

All-choir anniversary

St. John United Methodist Church on Green Road in Lake City will be having its all-choir anniversary at 4 p.m. Sept. 19. For more information, call the church at (843) 389-7349.

 

Ushers anniversary

The ushers of Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, at 552 E. Billly Farrow Highway in Darlington, will celebrate their anniversary with an event featuring the Mellowtones of Effingham at 6 p.m. Sept. 19.

 

Homecoming

New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, on U.S. 378 east of Lake City, will have homecoming at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 19 with speaker the Rev. Jerry L. Gadsden, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church in Lake City.

 

‘A Night of the Stars’

Olanta Pentecostal Holiness Church will present “A Night of the Stars” at 7 p.m. Sept. 25 in the church’s fellowship hall. Admission is $5.

 

‘From an Orphan to a Queen’

Great Commission Ministries will have its 2010 Women’s Conference titled "From an Orphan to a Queen” with guest speaker Amanda Hill at 7 p.m. Oct. 15 and 9:30 a.m. Oct. 16. The cost is $20 in advance and $25 at the door. The registration fee includes lunch on Saturday. For more information, please call the church office at (843) 389-0998.

 

GriefShare

GriefShare, a grief recovery program, will be held at Lee’s Tabernacle Church, at 2226 N. Matthews Road, Scranton, at 6:30 p.m. every Thursday during the months of September and October. This is a Christ-centered, nondenominational video program for the bereaved. There is no cost to attend. For more information, call (843) 389-7051. 

 

New schedule

Mega Omega Ministries, at 3147 N. Williamsburg County Highway in Cades, has a new schedule for services: Bible study at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sunday school at 8:20 a.m., and morning worship at 9 a.m. For more information, call 9843) 389-6206.

 

Clothes Closet

Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church’s Clothes Closet, at 112 Deep River St. in Lake City, is open to anyone who is in need of its services and is accepting donations. The Department of Social Services, the Red Cross, Salvation Army and any other organization that helps people in need can contact the Clothes Closet. Free clothing

The Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church, at 608 S. Ron McNair Blvd., is providing free clothing for the community. For more information, call (843) 374-3444

 

Scouting program

Greater St. James AME Church, at 339 W. Moore St. in Lake City, offers a scouting program to local boys and girls. All parents who are interested may contact Jimmie Harrison or Lake City Mayor Lovith Anderson Jr. Boy Scouts meet the first and third Saturdays monthly at 10 a.m.

 

Help To Feed the Hungry

Victory Harvest Church, at 157-B West Main Street in Lake City, has changed its Help To Feed the Hungry distribution days and times to 2-6 p.m. every Tuesday and 2-5 p.m. every Wednesday or until food runs out. Food will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications for assistance are taken on Tuesdays, and client day of the month to pick up commodities will be given at this time. Military wall

Plaques on the military wall at St. Mark Believers Holiness Church are available to families of military members who would like to place a relative’s name on the wall. For more information, call Michelle Daniels at (843) 394-9954.

 

Tennessee trip

First Baptist Church in Lake City is planning a five-day, four-night trip to Nashville and Pigeon Forge, Tenn., from Dec. 2-6. Tour includes motor coach transportation; four-night accommodations; taxes and bag handling; three dinners; four continental breakfasts; and admission to the Shindig Christmas Show, Grand Ole Opry, Treasure for the Holiday, Hall of Trees Ice Sculpture, Radio City Rockettes and Dollywood. Bible study

Kingstree Apostolic Faith Church, at 792 Gausetown Road in Kingstree, will have Bible study at 7:30 p.m. every Tuesday night. On the fourth Tuesday night, which is children’s night, children will be given items to get them involved in the Bible class. For more information, call (843) 356-9584.

 

Narcotics Anonymous

Greater St. James AME Church, at 339 W. Moore St. in Lake City, holds Narcotics Anonymous meetings at 7 p.m. each Monday and Thursday. Anyone who needs this service is invited to attend.
