Over the last few years tax forms have gotten harder and harder to find. This year it seems the State of South Carolina has yet to mail any to its residents, so at the library we are constantly hearing, “Do you have any tax forms?”
At the moment we do, and you can help yourself to what you need. However when they are gone, it takes quite some time to restock. If you need a form, come by and pick one up but leave some for the others in town that will also be stopping by. When the pre-printed forms are gone, we do have ones that you can copy for 10 cents per page.
Many people are stopping by the library to print out copies of their W-2 forms as employers are using online services instead of printed forms. We can help you work through the process of getting your W-2 pulled up online and printed. Printing from the computer is 25 cents per page in black and white. Be sure to bring all the information your employer gives you, or you will not have what you need to access your account.
For the past two years, the library and Black Creek Arts have partnered to present a wonderful photography exhibit. We will be working together again this year and will once again hold our exhibit in both buildings during the month of July. Categories will be ages 18 and younger, ages 18 and older, small work and large work. The special category this year is Darlington County Travelers, so dig out those pictures from your vacations around the globe and see what you can enter.
All photos must be prepared for hanging and submitted during the month of June. Best in each category, best in show and honorable mentions will be awarded by judges prior to the show opening. People’s choice winners will be picked during the Thursday evening opening event. Watch for more information as June approaches, or call (843) 332-5115 or Bruce Douglas at Black Creek.
As March arrives, thoughts turn to spring flowers and green grass – we have just received some new gardening books to help you plan.
Look for “All new square foot gardening: grow more in less space” by Mel Bartholomew; “Grow great grub: organic food for small spaces” by Gayla Trail; and “Gardening with native plants of the South” by Sally Wasowski. I
If you aren’t into the plant side of the garden, check out “Hardscaping: how to use structures, pathways, patios and ornaments in your garden” by Keith Davitt.
The book discussion group will meet at noon March 24 at Saffron Catering. The group is reading and discussing “Sarah’s Key” by Tatiana de Rosnay. This bestselling novel tells its story with two narrators, one in 1942 Paris as the Jews are being rounded up and deported and in 2002 as a story on the 60th anniversary of the roundup is being researched and written. Copies of this title are available at the circulation desk. We also have it on audio CD.
