The Hartsville Interfaith Ministries (HIM) met Thursday at Wesley United Methodist Church in downtown Hartsville for its annual board meeting and lunch.
Todd Shifflet, president of HIM board, presided over the meeting. The invocation was provided by the Rev. Terry Martin, pastor at Wesley.
The Rev. E. Robert Thomas, pastor of Mt. Calvary AME Church and speaker for the event, discussed “simple servitude,” stating that God has a purpose for his servants in Hartsville that must be accomplished one small step at a time.
Following lunch, new board member nominees, Sherman Dibble of Emmanuel Baptist Church and Heather Norwood of First Presbyterian Church, were introduced and approved.
The executive board for 2010 was also introduced. Officers are Margaret Tingen of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, president; Meg Garges of First Presbyterian Church, vice-president; Sheila Hodges of North Hartsville Baptist Church, secretary and Karen Hursey of First Baptist Church, treasurer.

HIM is an interdenominational Christ-centered ministry. The non-profit organization is dedicated to helping those in need in the Hartsville community by providing basic needs such as food, shelter, utilities, fuel, medical supplies and prescriptions.
