Clyne and Teresa Ballenger of Abbeville, SC announce the engagement of their daughter, Michele Ballenger of Abbeville, SC to Alex Smith of Florence, SC. She graduated from Lander University with a Bachelors degree in Mass Communications and Theatre and currently attends The University of South Carolina where she is pursuing a Masters of Art in Teaching in Theatre Education degree. She is a graduate assistant for the De-partment of Theatre and Dance at The University of South Carolina.
The bridegroom is the son of Drs. Deborah and Dan Hopla of Florence, SC and David Lyle Smith of Florence, SC. He is the grandson of Frank and the late Betty Tanksley of Temple, GA and Carolyn Knight of Florence, SC and the late Cluff E. Hopla of Norman, OK. He is a graduate of Lander University and holds Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Sci-ence. He is a graduate assistant for the Women’s basketball program at Lander Univer-sity.
The wedding is planned for 5:30pm September 26, 2009 at The Abbeville Opera House in Abbeville, SC.
