MYRTLE BEACH, SC – In recognition of the National Depression Screening Day CSCC is offering depression screenings and recommendations by Licensed Professionals Counselors at no charge to the public. Depressive disorders affect approximately 18.8 million American adults each year. More than 80 percent of people with clinical depression can be successfully treated. With early recognition, intervention, and support, most individuals can lead productive lives. This is why it is CSCC’s mission to offer consultation, education, and treatment to persons and their loved ones in and around the Grand Strand area who have been touched by the devastating effects of depression.
The screenings will be available October 22nd from 11am – 4pm to both adults and children at CSCC’s main office which is located at 901 N Kings Hwy inside the Asbury Building of First United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach. All screenings will be administered by Licensed Professional Counselors and take approximately 20 minutes. The screenings will involve taking a short inventory, answering a few brief questions about their history and current presenting problems and will conclude with recommendations. The Coastal Samaritan Counseling Center was established in 1980 by an independent board representing a cross-section of the community and is supported by 20 area congregations. The Center provides a wide range of outpatient counseling services, including counseling for individuals, couples, and families; educational programs; and consultation for professionals and organizations.
