The Joseph Stukes History Series continues Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Drs. Bruce & Lee Foundation Library with an appearance by Brigham Young.
Stukes will portray Young in the Joe Stukes Meeting Room.

Young was a leader in the Latter Day Saint movement and a settler of the western U.S. He was drawn to Mormonism after reading the Book of Mormon and joined the church in1832.
After his first wife died, Young joined other Mormons to establish a community in Ohio. In 1844 he became president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles then president of the Church in 1847.
As founder of Salt Lake City, he became the territory’s first governor and superintendent of Indian affairs. During this time, he established Mormon settlements. He organized the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and founded the University of Deseret.
Young died in Salt Lake City on Aug. 29, 1877.
