Pastoral appreciation
The Pastor’s Aide Committee of East Lake City will have the ninth Pastoral Appreciation Celebration for Pastor and Evangelist Dr. Lue Salters at 7:30 Thursday through Friday with a conclusion at 10:30 a.m. Sunday with Bishop Dr. Linwood Cooper, pastor of St. Mark and Trinity BHC, Lake City and Kingstree. The speakers will be: Thursday — Moderator Mack R. Singletary, pastor of Pleasant View Freewill Baptist Church, Hemingway; and Friday — Rev. Jack Peterson, pastor of New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Lake City.
ParenTeen Seminar
Central United Methodist Church Parenting Chat’s first meeting of the fall will kick off today with a special parenting seminar called ParenTeen. Jack Radcliffe will lead the seminar, from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $5. You may pay at the church’s office in advance or at the door. This event is sponsored by Central Parenting group, which meets from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. the first Wednesday night of each month during the school year in room No. 164/165 off the commons area at Central United Methodist Church. Live@Central
Live@Central is a free program Central United Methodist Church of Florence offers at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday nights in the Spears Fellowship Hall, unless otherwise noted.
- Tonight: Dr. Beverly Spears will portray popular Irish author Maeve Binchy. Dr. Spears is a retired Francis Marion University English professor and a student of Irish history. She also lives in Ireland part-time.

Fall summit
The Fall Summit of the Woman’s Baptist Pee Dee District Department will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at New Ebenezer Baptist Church, at 307 S. Ravenel St. in Florence. Registration will begin promptly at 9:45 a.m. The workshop will pertain to parliamentary procedures.
