Miss Elizabeth Austin Altman of Evergreen and Mr. Clarke Andrew Johnson of New Zion were married at 4 o’clock in the afternoon, November 7, 2009, at Evergreen Baptist Church.
Dr. Quinn Hooks and the Rev. Donald Duncan performed the ceremony. The bride, who was escorted by her father, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Stanford Altman, Sr. of Evergreen. She is the granddaughter of the late Austin Columbus Harris of Bennettsville, SC, the late Mr. and Mrs. William Robert Wilson of Hamlet, NC and Mr. William Wally Altman and the late Joyce Richardson Altman of Evergreen.
She is a 2008 Cum Laude graduate of Clemson University with a BA in Early Childhood Education and is employed by Florence School District 1.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ellison Johnson Jr. of New Zion. He is the grandson of Mrs. Samuel Bethea Floyd and the late Mr. Floyd of New Zion and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Ellison Johnson Sr. of New Zion.
The bride wore an Ivory Silk Satin Alvina Valenta gown with Alencon lace on the bodice and the hem. Her veil, which was worn by her mother on her wedding day, was chapel length with Alencon lace around the edge. She carried a bouquet of Vendela Roses, hand-tied with satin ribbon and accented with pearls.
He is a 2005 graduate of Midlands Technical College with an Associate Degree in Business and is employed by South Carolina Department of Transportation.
Maid of Honor was Miss Katie Lynne Jett, friend of the bride.
Best Man was John Ellison Johnson Jr., father of the groom.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. Laurie Beth Blanton, friend of the bride, Mrs. Dee Godwin Johnson and Mrs. Jennifer McElveen Johnson, sisters-in-law of the groom; Mrs. Kathleen Davenport Lynch, friend of the bride; Miss Charly Elizabeth Moore, friend of the bride; Miss Keli Grayson Moore; friend of the bride; and Mrs. Brittany Moore Wilson, friend of the bride.
Groomsmen were William Stanford Altman Jr., brother of the bride, John Ellison Johnson III, Graham Tyler Johnson and Hunter Britton Johnson, all brothers of the groom; David Littlejohn Bowen, friend of the groom; Patrick Blake Gibbons, friend of the groom; and Brantley Bethea Hodge, cousin of the groom.
Flower Girl was Emilee Grace Johnson, niece of the groom.
Ring Bearer was John Ellison Johnson IV, nephew of the groom.
The wedding music for the ceremony was provided by Mr. Thomas Wilson Jordan, pi-anist/organist. Soloists were Mrs. Nancy Harris Williams, aunt of the bride, and Mr. Joseph Howard Cagle, and trumpeter was Mr. Julian Graham.
A reception followed at the home of the bride in Evergreen.
After a wedding trip to the Dominican Republic, the couple will live in Evergreen.
