Coastal Carolina University’s Volunteer Services Center is hosting a series of events in conjunction with National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week from Saturday, Nov. 14 to Thursday, Nov. 19. These events are part of a national initiative created by colleges and universities to promote education, awareness and action regarding hunger and homelessness in America. This is the first time Coastal Carolina University has participated in the program.
Public participation is encouraged in the following events:
Saturday, Nov. 14
· Canned Food Drive. Donate a canned food item at Coastal Carolina’s Nov. 14 football game against Presbyterian College at Brooks Stadium, beginning at 12:30 p.m. A drop-off station will be located at each entrance to the stadium. All goods collected will be donated to the Low Country Food Bank to serve the local community.
Tuesday, Nov. 17
· Feed Hungry Hearts with the Arts is an art sale to benefit Action Against Hunger, the international poverty fighting foundation. Art works by professional artists as well as Coastal Carolina University students will be sold. The event will include music and activities including a corn hole tournament. Spadoni Park, 4 to 7 p.m. (Rain location: the Lib Jackson Student Center)
