FLORENCE —Creek Ratz Restaurant (Florence and Murrells Inlet) will be holding an Oyster Festival to benefit the March of Dimes on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 1 to 5 p.m.
Bands lined up for the Oyster Festival at the Florence location are Warren Stone & Midway Blue, Elbow Greezy and Doby & Brian from Crow Jayne. The highlight of the day will be a dunking booth, featuring Sheriff Kenney Boone and Twelfth Circuit Solicitor E.L. (Ed) Clements III.
There also will be great prize drawings, including tickets to the Carolina Panthers games Sunday, Nov. 15, and Thursday, Nov. 19.
As part of Prematurity Awareness Month, Creek Ratz is donating a portion of the day’s sales to the March of Dimes, which funds research into the causes and preventions or premature birth. Premature birth touches half a million babies and their families every year, including 173 babies in South Carolina in an average week. Babies born too soon are more likely to die or have lifelong disabilities.
In 2009, the South Carolina March of Dimes has invested $1.5 million in program services, including research grants and local community services. Through these grants, the March of Dimes is seeking ways to prevent birth defects and infant death, reduce South Carolina’s increasing premature birth rate, increase access to prenatal care and educate men and women about having healthy babies.
