Last week’s Taste of Hartsville didn’t disappoint me. In my opinion, it was highly successful. I found lots of photo opportunities and lots of good food and friends.
The Taste is an event people look forward every year and not just people from Hartsville. I received an e-mail from Jimmy Ballard telling me about four teachers from Cheraw who have been making the Taste of Hartsville an annual outing for several years.
The spring festivals are at an end. “American Idol” is over. Graduations are taking place, and many people, including myself, will soon be heading to various vacation destinations.
June begins the summer lull. Most of my stories will now be centered on people and other types of events than festivals, concerts and plays. Most organizations take the summer off.
However, in July we have the Peach Festival at McLeod Farms and many Fourth of July celebrations.
Although I’ve been at this job for almost 35 years, there are still many interesting and talented people in this community that I haven’t interviewed.
In the works is a story about a young child with autism and a young woman who makes art out of paper using the technique of origami.
I’m sure there are many folks that have wonderful stories to tell that I don’t know about.

Father’s Day is not far off. Do you know of a special father who deserves recognition?
He could be a single day, a grandfather, a dad that has gone the extra mile to make his child’s dreams come true or he could be your dad, just the greatest dad on earth.
From where I sit, I’m just waiting for another good story to tell.
