Jimmy and Virginia Atkins of Lafayette, La., announce the engagement of their son, James Tomlinson “JT” Atkins Jr., to Erin Diana Tatum, daughter of Donna LeBlanc of Patterson, La., and Elmer Tatum Jr. of Lafayette, La.
The groom-elect is the grandson of Billy Atkins of Hartsville and Elizabeth Atkins of Darlington and the late Dr. and Mrs. James Allen Meadows Jr. of Birmingham, Ala.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Joyce Romero and the late Caesar Romero of Bayou Vista, La., and Elmer and Pat Tatum of Berwick, La.
The groom-elect is a 2000 graduate of Lafayette High School in Lafayette, La., and a 2005 graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he received a bachelor’s degree in business management. His is self-employed with Deep Blue Resources, where he works as a landman.
The bride-elect is a 2002 graduate of Berwick High School in Berwick, La., and a 2006 graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she received a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with concentrations in biology and general science. She is employed by Lafayette Parish School Systems, where she teaches honors biology.
The wedding will be May 16, 2009, at The Manor in Cade, La.
