Centerville Missionary Baptist Church is celebrating the naming of a new pastor. On May 10 the church had an installation service for its new pastor, the Rev. William Norman Pee. Pee was named pastor after a number of candidates were considered. He replaced the Rev. Marvin N. Kelty, who passed away following heart surgery in 2008.
Minister Marcus L. Pee served as interim pastor during the search for a permanent pastor. “Our search for a new pastor was extensive …We were looking for a pastor who would understand and be a good blend for our membership. we found a man who was raised in this very church” said Deacon James Pee, who headed the search committee. Centerville Church is at 5211 Pennell Road, in the Centenary community. The church is more than 100 years old and is a mainstay in this community.
The Rev. Pee is a graduate of Terrell’s Bay High School, Centenary. He attended Morris College, Sumter, and is presently pursuing a degree in pastoral studies at Cathedral Bible College. The Rev. Pee has also attended various other institutions and seminars for Biblical studies, leadership and management throughout America. He is a retired radio professional and has received various awards and managed several radio stations. He is the owner of “Lovejoy Productions,” media and marketing company.
The Rev. Pee said he has an ambitious program for the future of Centerville Church. “God has shown me a vision for this church. I am only his servant. It’s not about me. It’s all about Jesus Christ” he said, adding “God’s vision for this church is for us to be a moving force in this community.”
