LAMAR – Jessica Virginia Fitz of Florence and Frederick Nelson Ware of Lamar were married on Saturday, May 30, 2009. The garden wedding was held at the country home of the groom’s parents, Dr. and Mrs. John G. (Vickie) Ware.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John (Denise Richbourg) Fitz of Florence and Myrtle Beach, Jessica is a senior sociology major at Francis Marion University. The groom attended Francis Marion and is furthering his education at Florence-Darlington Technical College. The bride graduated from West Florence High School and the groom graduated from Lamar High School.
Jessica currently works at Food Lion on South Irby Street in Florence. The groom is employed at Harbor Freight in Florence.
Their grandparents include Mrs. Florine Fitz and Mrs. Virginia Richbourg, both of Florence, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. (Shelva) Rarick of West Virginia.
The altar table was adorned with a unity candle and bowl of memorial sunflowers honoring the couple’s deceased grandparents, Dewey Merritt Richbourg and David Franklin Fitz, Sr., both of Florence, Elizabeth Brunette Ware and Frederick Nelson Ware of Montreal, Ontario, Canada.
Merritt Chandler of Nashville, TN, served as her sister’s matron of honor with Lisa Harrelson as maid of honor and Maggie Byrd, both of Florence, as attendant. Rachel Rarick of West Virginia, cousin of the groom, sang “The Wedding Song” as she stood with the other bridesmaids. Merritt Chandler sang “The Lord’s Prayer.”
Honorary attendant and special assistant to the bride throughout her wedding planning was Kayla Wells of Florence. Friends Erica and Chelsea Semiklose of Effingham styled the bride’s hair and assisted with the wedding.
Jacob Rarick of West Virginia served as his cousin’s best man. Groomsmen were Whitney Ard of Florence and Thomas Clinton Chandler, III, brother-in-law of the bride, of Nashville. Logan Fitz of Norman Park, GA, served as junior groomsman and train bearer for his cousin.
Brandalyn Fitz of Norman Park, GA, and Gavin Gregg of Knoxville, TN, both cousins of the bride, were flower girl and ring bearer.
The Rev. Chris Handley of the bride’s church home, First Presbyterian Church in Florence, officiated. Lola Faye Craig of Florence served as wedding director. Music was provided by bagpiper Josh Harel of Hartsville and pianist Miranda Benton of Lamar.
Following the garden reception, the couple left for a honeymoon in Gatlinburg, TN. They are making their home in Lamar.
