Amelia Beth Askins of Florence and John Ivey Brown Jr. of Florence were married August 15, 2009, at St. Paul United Methodist Church. The Rev. Gilbert Dane Morehead Jr., performed the ceremony. The bride, who was escorted by her father, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny David Askins of Florence. She is the granddaughter of the late Mrs. Olene Thomas Martin and the late William Leroy Martin, and Mrs. Virginia Broach Askins of Florence and the late Mr. Willie "Bobby" Cleo Askins Sr.
She is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and is employed by McLeod Regional Medical Center.
The groom is the son of Mr. John Ivey Brown Sr. of Sumter and the late Mrs. Camilla Wright Brown. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Simeon Pinckney Wright Sr. of Sumter and the late Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Girard Brown Sr.
He is a graduate of Francis Marion University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and is employed by the Bank of Clarendon.
Maid of Honor was Miss Morgan Marie Maxwell, friend of the bride.
Matron of Honor was Mrs. Hope Askins Chace, sister of the bride.
Best Man was Mr. John Ivey Brown Sr., father of the groom.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. Casey Covington Coker, friend of the bride, Ms. Jill Askins Faile, sister of the bride, Miss Laura Ashley Scarborough, friend of the bride, Mrs. Heather Floyd Graham, friend of the bride, and Mrs. Pamela O'Neal Stratton, friend
of the bride.
Groomsmen were Mr. John Demosthenes Blanding, friend of the groom, Mr. Christopher Erik Bullock, friend of the groom, Mr. Jonathan Paul Chavious, friend of the groom, Mr. Jimmy Carlton Mabes, friend of the groom, Mr. Christopher Shane Marler, friend of the groom, Mr. Justin Miles Sebnick, friend of the groom, and Mr. Bradley Thomas Willbanks, friend of the groom.

A reception followed at The Country Club of South Carolina in Florence.
After a wedding trip to Negril, Jamaica, the couple will live in Florence.
