Mary Kathryn Alexander of Charlotte, N.C., and Steve Alan Joyce Jr. of Greensboro, N.C., were married on Aug. 23, 2008, at historic Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church in Blowing Rock, N.C. The Rev. Dr. David Chadwick, senior pastor at Forest Hill Church in Charlotte, N.C., performed the ceremony along with the Rev. Charles Landreth of Blowing Rock, N.C.
The seated dinner and dance reception followed at the Blowing Rock Country Club, Blowing Rock, N.C.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Alexander of Blowing Rock, N.C., and Charleston. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry D. Montgomery of Hartsville and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Alexander of Statesville, N.C. She is an honor graduate of Wake Forest University and was most recently employed by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in Charlotte, N.C.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Alan Joyce of Greensboro, N.C., and Blowing Rock, N.C. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Kermit E. Spencer of Madison, N.C., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles P. Joyce of Mayodan, N.C. He is a graduate of UNC-Greensboro and is with MML Investor Services of Greensboro, N.C.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, had Mrs. Kiersten Hall and Mrs. Stacy Stevenson as her matrons of honor.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. Laurie Bell, Mrs. Amy Freeman, Mrs. Marla Odom Payne, Mrs.Valerie Vernon, and Rosanne Roberts. Honorary bridesmaids were Mrs. Tracie Ann Alexander, sister-in-law of the bride; Mrs. Jennifer Simon and Michelle Oglesby.
Flower girls, all nieces of the groom, were Faith Dymek, Spencer Hoffman and Madison Jones.
Best man was Steve Alan Joyce, father of the groom.
Groomsmen were Dr. J. Robert Alexander Jr., brother of the bride; Steve Bergman, Mark Childers, Eric Einwaechter, David Massey and Charles Vail.
Ring bearers, both nephews of the bride, were Robert Cole Alexander and Aidan Wells Alexander.
The bride chose to wear her mother’s wedding gown, a Priscilla of Boston designer gown covered with Chantilly lace and tiny seed pearls on ivory satin with a full lace train. Her fingertip veil was also her mother’s. Hydrangeas, white roses, calla lilies and stephanotis made up her bouquet of flowers tied with satin ribbon. Her attendants all wore long gowns of black silk crepe with bouquets of white hydrangeas and stephanotis.
After a honeymoon to Wailea resort in Maui, Hawaii, the couple will make their home in Greensboro, N.C.
