McLeod Hospice of Florence is offering a new volunteer training program for those interested in helping Hospice patients. McLeod officials say volunteers play a vital role in McLeod Hospice.
Volunteers may make deliveries to patients’ homes or provide companionship by visiting patients either in their homes or at the Hospice House. They may also provide massage therapy, pet therapy or music therapy to patients. Some volunteers perform clerical work, bake or sew for patients and families or provide gardening skills at the Hospice House.
McLeod Hospice provides support for famlies coping with a member that is facing a life-limiting illness. Patients and their families need a solid support system during this time of crisis. McLeod Hospice serves Florence, Darlington, Marion, Dillon and Lee counties.
The volunteer training program will be held on Tuesday and Thursday, October 28 and 30, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the McLeod Hospice House located at 1203 East Cheves Street. Attendees must register in advance if they plan to participate in the training.
