Adrian Heather Howell of Oates and Christopher Jason Smothers of Hartsville were married on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at 6 p.m. at Mt. Elon Baptist Church. The Rev. Robbin J. King and William F. Jordan officiated at the ceremony.
A reception was held at Lakeview County Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Howell of Oates. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Howell of Oates and Peggy Andrews of Lamar.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Smothers of Hartsville. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Smothers of Hartsville and Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Winburn of Hartsville.
Music for the wedding was performed by Mrs. Nancy Huggins, pianist, and Mrs. Aquilla Bec, harpist. The Rev. Robbin J. King, Ashlyn Bazen and Ms. Ruddell Brown were soloists.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white beaded, strapless gown accented with silver sequins. She carried a bouquet of white roses.
The bridal attendants wore full-length black beaded chiffon gowns and carried stemmed sunflower bouquets.
Maid of honor was Madison Flowers of Darlington. Matrons of honor were Scarlet Hall and Shannon Howell, both of Oates.
Bridesmaids were Taylor Row of McBee and Jaime Garland of Hartsville. Junior bridesmaids were Caroline Howell and Katlyn Howell, both nieces of the bride of Oates.
Flower girl was Charley Grace Norris of Oates. Ring bearer was David Howell Jr. of Oates.
Miniature bride was Lynsey Tiller of Lamar. Miniature groom was Austin Howell of Oates.
Best man was Billy Smothers of Hartsville.
Groomsmen were Dustin Smothers of Hartsville, brother of the groom; David Howell Sr. of Oates, brother of the bride; Russell Howell of Oates, brother of the bride; Wayne Mears Jr. of Darlington; Matt Evans of Hartsville and Jamie Crowley of Hartsville.
The bride is a graduate of Florence-Darlington Technical College. She is employed with the Golden Comb Beauty Salon as a massage therapist.
The bridegroom is a graduate of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. He is employed with the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy
After a honeymoon to Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple will make their home in Oates.
