Jennifer Jeanne Bussell and Logan Joseph Schiff of New York, N. Y., were married Oct. 18, 2008, at Hickory Ridge House, a bed and breakfast in Putney, Vt. Justice of the Peace Hester Caldwell performed the 2 p.m. outdoor ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Susan and Gregory Bussell of Hartsville. She is the granddaughter of Marvene Bussell of Hartsville, formerly of Sun City Center, Fla., and the late Frank “Bud” Bussell, as well as Jeanne French of Mt. Carmel, Ill., and the late Colonel Uel French (U.S. Army, Retired).

The bridegroom is the son of Harris Schiff of Queens, N.Y., and Judy Pomerantz of Brooklyn, N.Y. He is the grandson of the late Lillian and Julius Schiff of Bronx, N.Y., as well as the late Shirley and Arthur Pomerantz of Aventura, Fla., formerly of Rockville Center, N. Y.

The ceremony was attended by the bride and groom’s immediate family and escorts, as well as Maid of Honor Mary Ellen Player of Manhattan, N.Y., formerly of Lake City.

The bride wore her mother’s knee-length wedding gown, which was made in 1971 by the bride’s maternal grandmother. She wore a custom-made silk pillbox hat and a cream-colored, shoulder-length veil. She carried a bouquet of cream and light green seasonal flowers.

Following the ceremony, the bride and groom took a wedding trip to Montreal. They hosted a cocktail reception to celebrate their marriage with family and friends in the Solarium of the Scholars’ Residence of the Rockefeller University in Manhattan on Saturday, Oct. 25. The bride wore a burgundy cocktail dress by Zac Posen to the reception.

The bride and groom met at the University of Chicago, where they both earned bachelor’s degrees. The bride studied biological sciences with a specialization in cellular and molecular biology and graduated with honors. The bridegroom studied Russian language, history and civilization and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

Mrs. Schiff is a doctoral student in neurogenetics and behavior at The Rockefeller University in Manhattan. She was formerly a biotechnology marketing consultant with ZS Associates in Boston, Mass., and graduated from the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics in Hartsville.

Mr. Schiff received a law degree from Harvard University. He is an associate in the litigation practice of the New York law firm Debevoise and Plimpton, L.L.P.
