Pumpkins, hayrides, ghost and goblins.
It’s that time of year when the air turns cool and McLeod Farms, located on Hwy. 151 between Hartsville and McBee, begins preparing for its annual Fall Festival. The festival is this Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There will be fun for the entire family beginning with a recipe contest. Judges will decide who has the best recipe using pumpkin as the main ingredient. After the judging, samples of the entrees will be available for those would like to determine for themselves which is the best entry. As always the roadside market will be open for those who want to select their own pumpkins, breads, and fresh produce.
Don’t forget the costume contest. Don your scariest or funniest costume and compete for the best costume in the county.
A carved pumpkin contest is also planned.
There will be a “pumpkin chunkin” event to test your skills and strength. See how far you can throw a pumpkin.
Wagon rides around the farm will reveal what crops are being harvested during the fall growing season.
Find your way in and out of a corn maze. This is fun for the entire family.
Children will enjoy sliding down the inflatable slide or bouncing about in the jump castle.
A cakewalk and face painting are also on the agenda.
And throughout the day, there will be live, toe-tapping entertainment.
